Nawruz marks the first day of spring or Equinox and the beginning of the year in Persian calendar. It is cleared on the day of the astrological Northward equinox, which usually occurs on March 21 annually or the previous/following day depending on where it is observed. Samanak سمنك
Sumalak sweet paste made entirely from germinated wheat (young wheatgrass), which is prepared especially for Nawruz (Afghan new year) in a large pot. This practice has been traced thousands years back. The wheat is soaked and prepared for days and so the entire process takes up to a week. Traditionally, the final cooking would take from late evening till the daylight and it is a party involving only women. This would be full of laughter, music and singing related songs…

Haft Seen هفتسين
Haft Seen, or the Seven S’s is a traditional table seating of Nowruz. The Haft Seen table includes seven items all starting with the letter S ( س ) in the Persian alphabet. 1. Sabzeh ( سبزه ) wheat, barley, mung bean or lentils sprouts growing in a dish symbolizing rebirth. 2. Samanu ( سمنو ) symbolizing affluence. 3.
