Canadian Council of Imams Fitra and Fidya Amount Ramadan 1445

Warmest Ramadan Mubarak wishes to the Muslim communities throughout Canada.

In accordance with the guidance issued by the Canadian Council of Imams, we would like to inform you of the following:

1. **Zakat al-Fitr Obligations**: It is incumbent upon the head of each family to discharge Zakat al-Fitr on their own behalf and for all dependent family members. The Canadian Council of Imams has established the contribution amount at $10 CAD per person. To achieve its intended purpose, Zakat al-Fitr should be paid prior to the Eid prayers.

2. **Fidya Requirements**: Fidya is designated for Muslims who are enduring long-term health conditions or are otherwise unable to fast, with no possibility of making up the missed days post-Ramadan. Those unable to observe the fasts of Ramadan and compensate thereafter are obliged to provide a contribution of $10 CAD per day, aimed at feeding a needy or impoverished individual.

During the auspicious days of Ramadan, the Canadian Council of Imams urges the Muslim community to remain steadfast in their prayers, supplications (du’a), and to offer unwavering support to the oppressed individuals in Gaza.

As we draw closer to the final ten nights of Ramadan, a period distinguished by the quest for Laylatul Qadr, we encourage a deepened spiritual commitment. We beseech Allah’s enduring blessings and favor upon all Muslims during this holy period.
