Call for Artistic Submissions: MuslimFest 150 Muslim Contributions Mixed-Media Exhibit Deadline June 16 2017Written by MuslimFest
MuslimFest’s 150 Muslim Contributions to Canada: A Mixed-Media Exhibit is an initiative to display 150 contributions made by Canadian Muslims to the culture, heritage and community of Ontario, and Canada. This mixed-media exhibit invites community members and artists alike, to submit visual art work, poetry, photography, short film and short story pieces highlighting these historical moments, which will premiere in a dynamic exhibition at MuslimFest 2017, August 5th and 6th, at the Mississauga Celebration Square.
In addition to the art submissions, we will be launching applications for commissioned short films based on stories we wish to curate, as well as a community-based nomination process to get your input on the most contributing community organizations. We’ll update this page as soon as we’re ready to launch!
We’re creating this exhibit so we can showcase the heritage and growth the Muslim community has brought to Canada in the last 150 years, and hopefully inspire the community to continue to actively contribute to Canada’s growth in the future. This exhibit will also act as a medium to build positive dialogue about the Muslim community amongst our neighbours.
Exhibit Application Process:
Find any Muslim individuals, groups or organizations within your neighbourhood, community or Canada at large that have helped impact their community and the communities around them. Share their story through the variety of art forms this exhibition is collecting.
